We’re a global qualitative research agency specialising in design research, with offices in London and New York.

We believe design research is different — it requires a combination of design expertise and research experience that generalist research agencies simply can’t provide. The opportunity

After 20 years working globally from our offices in London, we opened our first international office in New York in 2013. Strong business growth has meant that we need to expand our team! We’re in search of a Trainee Research Executive keen to specialize in the area of design research.

This is a fantastic role for someone who’s looking to start (or continue) their career in qualitative research, keen to get exposure at every stage of the process, learn as they go and able to offer an outstanding level of support to the team.


The role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and switched on team player. You don’t need to have prior experience in a qualitative research role, but you do need a genuine interest in consumers, how they make their choices and what role design plays in that. Much of our work is within the FMCG sector – so an interest in brands is essential. You also need to be highly organised with an excellent eye for detail.

In a nutshell

You will be supporting the research team on client projects – initially shadowing and then taking on responsibilities as and when appropriate.


Team role

Providing high quality support to the research team at every stage of the project process.


Research responsibilities / skills
  • Helping to set up the project
  • Booking out the fieldwork and liaising with field agencies
  • Drafting discussion guides
  • Preparing and sourcing stimulus materials
  • Attending fieldwork sessions
  • Taking notes / producing transcripts at groups or afterwards
  • Attending data-merge sessions with prepared notes and independent thoughts
  • Helping to put together the final report and proposals – producing charts in Keynote or Powerpoint


Client facing / external role
  • Providing information to clients on the phone and via email
  • Attending client and fieldwork agency set-up meetings
  • Being an ambassador for the company


Company responsibilities / involvement
  • Helping with and getting involved in social activities/planning
  • Getting involved where you can make a contribution e.g. IT, blog writing, design ideas etc.
