Quant Research Executive



Role Description:

This is a key role supporting the delivery of our quantitative projects here at The Big Picture.

Team members in this role will work across all aspects of project management, contributing to proposals, draft debriefs, undertaking analysis, and liaising with fieldwork suppliers. They work on each project under the supervision and guidance of a more experienced team member. They may mentor an intern


Main Accountabilities:


Responsible for the execution of all the administrative activities required to set up both face-to-face and online projects (e.g. liaising with fieldwork partners, checking online surveys and resolving any issues, so that the fieldwork runs smoothly.

Has a good understanding of the quantitative research process, understanding all elements of set-up / fieldwork / delivery timeline

Is aware of sampling requirements and feeds into suggestions regarding quantitative quotas

Liaises with client, design agency and any internal resource to ensure the right stimulus package is delivered for research.

Supports questionnaire development (i.e. seeks out appropriate lists, creates draft questions for review by others, proof reads the document and ensures all field instructions and routing are clear and correct)

Anticipates potential project pitfalls, liaising closely with suppliers to anticipate any issues (including monitoring fieldwork, spotting early warning signs and alerting the team if needed).

Can put together a tab spec and data coding spec / code frame

Can check tables thoroughly, identifying and flagging anything that is not correct

Contributes to datamerges and analysis of output to create the full research picture.

Contributes to scope writing, creates charts for the debrief, and finalises charts drafted by others, ensuring the correct base and source is referenced on all slides

Checks data slides against tables to ensure data is correct

Attends debrief and briefing meetings, and notes any action points. May present part of the debrief and answer clients’ questions, if appropriate.

Writes draft proposals for standard project types / methodologies, to the briefing and scope given to them by the senior team member. This includes getting costings from suppliers, creating charts for inclusion in the proposal etc.

Undertakes one-off internal projects which involve primary and / or secondary research, analysing the findings and representing them in charts and reports, or contributing to marketing think-pieces, writing blogs or other material promoting The Big Picture’s work.

Makes decisions within the remit of their role and resolves issues as required.

Checks with the senior member of the project team at all other decision points on client projects.



Communicates with the client, as directed by the Project Lead, on logistical and administrative queries/matters.

Liaises with client, design agency and internal resource to ensure delivery of the expected and required stimulus package.

Makes contributions at client meetings.
