We indulge ourselves with everything from vodka to cupcakes this week with the first bulletin of the festive season…

Ho, ho, ho…the colour of the festive season is red (not white) it seems. A lesson Coca-Cola learnt this week after revealing that their limited edition white can wasn’t receiving the favourable reception they’d hoped for. Constituting an aesthetic departure from their usual full fat colourways, some consumers cited differentiation issues between this can and Diet Coke.

To observe Worlds Aids Day yesterday, luxury vodka brand Belvedere released this limited edition bottle; Belvedere Red. BrandOpus were brought on board to help in the design process, and effectively devised a pack that retains key visual equities for the brand – such as the tree graphic and Belweder palace illustration. Encompassing bold, (red) colourways that proffer excellent standout for the charity in question, the vodka brand is set to contribute 50% of their sales to the global fund. We say “order your vodka on ice now!”.

Ecover takes sustainability to the next level with the announcement today that all their packaging will now be made from plant-based plastic. Hailed ‘plant-astic’, the sugarcane substrate is to be applied across the whole range alongside updated graphics and brighter, contemporary colourways.

And finally, it seems design isn’t our only forte at TBP Towers. This week, TBP trooper Emma won a fabulous prize for all the office – a dozen Bea’s of Bloosmbury cupcakes. The creative challenge involved her christening their Christmas gingerbread mascot. The winning name? Tootsie sugar socks.
