Summing up The Dieline’s Packaging Design summit 2012
TBP recently went Stateside to Boston where we attended The Dieline’s annual Packaging Design conference (June 22nd – 25th). We’re big fans of The Dieline; a site dedicated to the package design industry, set up in 2007 by (the frighteningly youthful) Andrew Gibbs. Showcasing only the very best in pack design, enthusiasts like ourselves feast daily on the site’s creative content. As for the conference, we’d go as far to say it was the best packaging summit TBP has ever attended.
Indeed, our three day packaging pilgrimage started on an inspiring note with The Dieline Package Design Awards. With 12 categories (spanning everything from Spirits to Student Work) and 38 winners, we were rather fond of the Best of Show prize which was awarded to The Creative Method for their Alternative Organic wine packaging. A limited edition pack for an organic Malborough Sauvignon Blanc, the bottle “reflects a new way of looking at organic packaging”. It channels a holistically natural look and feel by encompassing a number of sensory and organic materials (think raw twine, vine leaves, laser cut balsa wood, wax and organic ink).
For those of you who didn’t manage to attend the awards ceremony, you can check out who else was in receipt of a Dieline Award by clicking here. It really is a visual feast for the packaging connoisseur – and we’re already looking forward to 2013.
