The Big Packaging Debate @ Packaging Innovations

The Big Packaging Debate saw some interesting – but far from new – topics raised about research

This week we’ve visited The Big Packaging Debate, part of the Packaging Innovations conference here in London.

It was good to see the need for good design research so passionately debated, especially by the designers present. It’s an old debate, and one which keeps recurring.

We’ve had our say in this blog post back last year, so we’ll avoid wading into it again, but we’d like to again fly the flag for good design research. Research and design have always been slightly awkward bedfellows, but that’s because a lot of generalist research agencies doesn’t understand design (or, indeed, designers). We like to think that – as design specialists – we do, which might be why a lot of our work comes via design agency referral.
